Best of the Boxes April 2017

I subscribe to Ipsy, Birchbox, and Boxycharm. I also get the quarterly Walmart Beaut Box and order the monthly Target Beauty Box more months than not. I don’t always get to try all the samples the same month that I get the box. Sometimes I will include a sample from a box that I got months ago.

This month was not a great month for beauty boxes. There was no one item that totally wowed me. I will start with Walmart Spring 2017 Beauty Box Trendsettert . There were a couple of good samples in it.

Rimmel Stay Matte Lightweight Liquid Mousse Foundation – A feather light, oil free formula with an airy mousse texture that won’t feel heavy or greasy. Delivers all day shine control and blends flawlessly for a natural looking matte finish. Minimizes the appearance of pores. The weight is over – finally, shine has met its matte. I liked this sample so much that I used the coupon that came in this box to buy a full size. This was the best of Best of the Boxes this month. See the full review here.

Frizz Ease Daily Nourishment Conditioner – What It Does: Replenishes moisture and repels frizz. This formula, with vital nutrients & silk protein, creates a barrier to help seal in essential hydration and lock out style-ruining moisture. I have liked every Frizz Ease product I have tried so I am looking forward to trying this out. It will be perfect for the hot, humid summer months.

Birchbox has been subpar of late. Birchbox April 2017 was a good one but I did choose the curated box so I knew what I was getting. I am pleased or looking forward to 3 of the samples.

Bumble and bumble. Don’t Blow It – Fine – Let’s face it: Air-drying your hair is easy, but the results aren’t always pretty. This crème is changing the game with plant-based conditioners enhance volume and texture without any time under the blow dryer. Plus, UVA and UVB filters protect against harmful rays, so your hair stays soft and hydrated. Just smooth on post-shower for a lightweight finish—little to no effort required. This is wonderful. I have curl in my hair and this leaves my curls so soft. My hair looks good when I use this. I feel certain I will buy this.

derma e® Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask – Sad fact: Each and every day, we collect and encounter toxins and micropollutants (uh…no thanks?). That’s why we choose this 2-in-1 purifying charcoal mask that exfoliates, detoxifies, and purges pores. Thanks to natural clays, apricot seed powder, and other nutrient-rich ingredients, you’ll be left with glowing, whistle-clean skin after just five minutes. If you follow my blog at all you know I love masks and this is a particularly good one. It left my skin looking brighter and so soft. Stay tuned for a full review on an upcoming Mask Monday post.

Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Double the Lip in Dusty Rose – If you want a bigger, voluptuous pout without using multiple products, this two-in-one lip liner and lipstick is for you. The custom teardrop tip features liner at the top and long-wearing, vibrant lipstick at the bottom, giving you double the lip with just one swipe. What’s more, it also takes the guesswork out of trying to pair your lipstick with the right liner shade. Lips look visibly fuller and amazingly colorful, so when someone asks, you can happily answer, “Yes, they’re real.” I like this way more than I expected. The shade is so pretty and the liner concept works better than I ever thought it would.

Typically, Boxycharm is awesome month after month and many Best of the Boxes products come from that box. Boxycharm April 2017 is the exception! I was disappointed and nothing rates as a best.

I was also disappointed with Ipsy April 2017. Some of the products might have been good if they hadn’t been way too dark or way too light. Nothing from my bag this month is good enough to really use, let alone be a “best of” anything.

Do you get any beauty subscriptions? What did you love this month? Did you get my favorites? Did you like them?

If you enjoyed this post please “like” it. If you follow me then you won’t miss any posts! Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your taking the time to visit my blog.
