Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream

I received a sample of this in a Target Beauty Box a few months back. You can see what comes in Target boxes in Target Beauty Box February 2017. It is a small jar but you don’t need much. It is a pretty deep blue jar with a matching screw off top. This is a Korean beauty company and they have an entire line using Hydro Ionized Mineral Water.

My skin is combo to normal. In warm weather, I am leaning toward oily and in the winter normal with occasional dryness. I use .05% tretinoin daily and you can read about my experiences with it herehere, and here. I pulled out this moisturizer when I was putting together a Month of Asian Skincare.

You can buy this at Target or online at Amazon. It is a more expensive drugstore price at around $32 for 1.6 oz./50ml of product. It doesn’t take much so that would last awhile.

According to the website, this is a Richly-textured moisturizing cream strengthens and retains long-lasting moisture that promises to:

1. Hydrates and Relieves Dry Skin With Hydro Ionized Mineral Water and Biogen technology, the moisturizing cream delivers long-lasting moisture to relieve dry skin.

2. Strengthens Skin’s Natural Moisture Barrier Olive squalane and glasswort extracts strengthens skin’s natural moisture barrier to help retain optimal moisture levels.

Water Bank’s Secret Moisturizing Recipe

Tillandsia Extract

Rich in betaine, which helps to draw and retain moisture, Tillandsia extract replenishes moisture.

Ingredients

Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Squalane, Dimethicone, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Dicaprylyl Ether, Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Sucrose Polystearate, Cyclohexasiloxane, Urea, Chenopodium Quinoa Seed Extract, Magnesium Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Manganese Sulfate, Calcium Chloride, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Salicornia Herbacea Extract, Propanediol, Xanthan Gum, Glyceryl Stearate, Myristyl Myristate, Tribehenin, Stearic Acid, Palmitic Acid, Glyceryl Undecylenate, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, PEG-100 Stearate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Cetearyl Alcohol, Inulin Lauryl Carbamate, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Glyceryl Caprylate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tromethamine, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance.

I know that some people will have a problem with the packaging. It is a cream in a jar that you will have to dip your fingers  in to use. I don’t have an issue with that as my hands are clean when I am applying skincare products. I don’t stress much over bacteria so I am fine with it. I also don’t see any ingredients that would degrade with exposure to light and air.

I  know that many people do not like products that contain dimethicone. I like the feeling it leaves on my face. I don’t find that it clogs my pores or causes any issues with my face. It just makes it feel like porcelain. The scent is very mild. I can’t imagine that it would bother most people unless you are super sensitive to scent.

It is a somewhat thick white cream. It feels almost like a light body butter. I initially tried it as a daytime moisturizer but that did not work for me at all. My face was shiny within a couple of hours of applying my makeup. Not dewy – shiny and greasy looking.

So, I moved it to my nighttime moisturizer and it worked! It is a wonderful nighttime moisturizer. Even though it is thick it melts on the skin almost immediately. My skin does stay tacky feeling for a long time after application. In the morning it just feels soft and smooth. This is a really good moisturizer and I will buy a full size. After I work through all the other moisturizers I have!

It is working well for my normal skin that is not sensitive. As I mentioned, it works better for me at night because it is just too rich for daytime use. If you have really dry skin it would probably make a great daytime moisturizer and be too light for nighttime use. I don’t know if it will work for my summer skin or not.

Have you tried this? Did it work for you? Have you tried any other Laneige products? What do you think?

  1. Thanks. I have the overnight version I just haven’t used it yet. I have a band habit of buying too much staff and then it has to sit and wait for me to finish what I am currently using. Yes, I am a beauty hoarder!
