Birchbox November 2016

Birchbox is a monthly beauty subscription that is $10 per month. You receive 4-5 samples or deluxe samples each month. You get makeup, skincare, hair care, bath and body, perfume, or beauty tools. Birchbox has 3 choices each month. You can choose a specially curated box and you know exactly what is in it. The 2nd choice is to choose 1 of your samples from 3-5 choices. The final choice is to let them create the box based on your profile. I have chosen each option at one time or another. You can see what kind of items you get in Birchbox here, here, here, and here. This month I picked a specific sample. I picked:

Chella Eyebrow Pencil in Tantalizing Taupe. This is the type of tool you use when you want the most defined, yet natural-looking brows you can get. The sleek, European-engineered mechanical pencil is made with a creamy consistency that glides on for a true, hair-like finish. I received this pencil in some other subscription box a few months ago and I LOVE IT. I was sad that it was in my August Empties. This is a great little eyebrow pencil and I am so happy to have a new one!

ORIGINS Modern Friction Nature’s gentle dermabrasion – We never used to look forward to scrubbing, but all that changed when we found this natural exfoliating cleanser. It keeps skin looking fresh and smooth without the irritation of other sloughs. The star ingredient is rice starch, which binds with water molecules to banish dirt and dead skin. I have always wanted to try Origins so I am excited to see this in my box. I currently have a scrub in the shower but it is almost empty so I will try this next.

Coastal Scents Blush & Bronzer Palette – the full-size version of this looks to be a nice palette. It has blushes, highlights, and bronzers. It looks a lot like a Too Faced palette. My sample had a blush and a highlighter. They were nice. The problem was that the sample size is so small that it is hard to get a normal sized brush in the product. They are  a good quality and I like them.

Oribe Superfine Hairspray – This medium-hold mist from Oribe helps keep your style going strong while leaving hair brushable, shiny, and soft. What’s more, the ultra-dry finish won’t make strands look dull or greasy. Use it as a working spray to add serious height to blown-out or teased hair, or use it as a finishing spray for moderate hold. The formula is enriched with conditioners, vitamins, and UV protectants, and excludes parabens and sodium chloride. Bonus: It’s safe for color- and keratin-treated hair. I don’t do anything to my hair that requires hairspray. I have no use for this.

Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream – f you struggle with finicky skin, consider this a complexion cure-almost-all. Enhanced with a megadose of ceramides——the lipid molecules found lacking in severely dry skin——this derm-developed cream provides prescription-quality relief for eczema and redness, as well as for garden-variety (but still frustrating) dryness. The deceptively light formula replaces lost ceramides, boosting skin’’s natural ability to retain moisture, and a special blend of skin-repairing ingredients like folic acid prevents cell DNA damage and protect from pollution, UV exposure, and irritation. This sounds like it will be great for my skin this winter. I am almost through some moisturizers so I will try this in December or January.

Other than the hairspray I am happy with this box. I am thrilled to have another Chella eyebrow pencil. I am also looking forward to trying the skincare products. This is a good box and I am pleased with 4 out of 5 samples.
