Dickinson’s Enhanced Witch Hazel Hydrating Toner Review

I was looking for a new toner after starting Tretinoin (Retin A) and having flaking more mornings than not. That had been an ongoing issue and the Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 for combo/dry skin seemed too much. I use a toner every morning and most nights. Right now I am using the Dickinson’s Enhanced Witch Hazel Hydrating Toner in the morning. I like that it is alcohol-free unlike the Clinique Clarifying Lotion.

I have used a toner almost every day since my teens. Back then it was Bonne Bell Ten-O-Six. I am used to needing an intense toner to combat oily skin. The changes in my skin since menopause have sent me searching for all new skincare products.I don’t even know for sure that you need a toner. Maybe it is just a habit I can’t break. Luckily I seem to have found a good one for my present mostly normal skin.

According to the website – Dickinson’s Enhanced Witch Hazel Hydrating Toner gently hydrates and nourishes skin with Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin E as it cleanses, tones and refreshes skin. Our alcohol-free formula helps skin maintain its natural balance as it gently removes impurities and reconditions skin. Skin feels hydrated, fresh and clean without tightness for soft, smooth and healthy looking skin.

Witch hazel has many beauty benefits for the skin. On its own,  it is good for oily skin and acne. It is a natural astringent that can be used to cleanse your skin and remove makeup. Although it is an astringent it is very gentle and not drying at all. Witch hazel reduces pore size and can make eyes look less puffy due to skin tightening properties. It seems to be good for all skin types.

I use this in my morning routine after I have washed my face in the shower. It has a light fragrance that doesn’t linger. It dries quickly on the skin without leaving it feeling dry or sticky. Subsequent skincare products go over it easily and my skin feels smooth. It looks good under makeup. I have not noticed my pores looking less obvious but maybe that will come in time.

I like this toner and I am glad that I tried it. It is a drugstore product that is less than $6 for a 16 oz bottle. I actually got mine on sale at CVS for $5 with an attached mail in rebate to get a coupon for a free bottle of the toner. What a bargain! This has worked well with my skin and skincare routine. I will continue to use it and hope it I continue to like it.

Do you use a toner? Have you tried this one? Do you have any recommendations?
